2009 Harwich Headhunt Winners
7/25/2009
Jailbreak Sportfishing Wins the 2009 Harwich Headhunt Tournament!!! They came from Boston. They talked the talk. They chartered one of the best. They walked away champions.
Congrats to Team Powe, a wily group of Bostonians who got their inspiration from one of Boston's Celtics own, and even brought bananas on the boat. Captained by Seamus Muldoon on his rig ‘Jailbreak’, they beat the largest field of boats to date, with 24 boats competing in the 2009 tourney that included some of the biggest boats yet, the most charter captains, and the most diversity in terms of fishing locations.
This was the best tournament yet, with great support from our sponsors, and an awesome after party at Jake" Target="_BLANK">http://www.jakerooneys.com">Jake Rooney’s. The local TV station showed up and we had an incredible group of folks who celebrated the day once we got off the water.
In the end, it was Team Powe and Jailbreak Sportfishing charters, captained by local resident and tourney veteran Seamus, took home the prize with a 33 lb fish. They beat the second place crew on the Arlie Ex who came in with a 28.8 lber and included included the 3 time champion Mike O’Brien. In 3rd place we had newcomers on the Navigator, a sweet 47 ft. Riviera.
The weather cooperated and we had a record number of boats weighing in fish over 20 lbs, including 8 boats who brought in 23 lbers. Off of Monomoy, the weather, the fishing, and the tourney could not have been better, and back on shore the good times continued.
Thank you again for everyone who helped out, including Tara of Talk" Target="_BLANK">http://www.talkofthetowncafe.com">Talk of the Town Café, Goose" Target="_BLANK">http://www.goose.com">Goose Hummock and On" Target="_BLANK">http://www.onthewater.com">On the Water. In addition to the prizes we gave out, we will be sponsoring a scholarship for a local Harwich resident next year. We only hope they can share in some of the glory that Team Powe and Seamus will enjoy for the next 12 months.
Congrats, and thanks to everyone.
